Students Excel at International Business Case Competitions
April 25, 2025
Webster University in Tashkent continues to make its mark on the international stage through the achievements of its talented student teams.
Most recently, the student team, "Equilibrium," demonstrated outstanding performance at two prestigious business case competitions, showcasing their strategic thinking, teamwork and professionalism. These student teams are cross-functional groups formed and supported by the Career Development and Alumni Relations Office, specifically for industry-focused events such as case championships, hackathons and corporate challenges. Rather than being tied to a single academic program or club, teams are curated based on students’ skills, academic performance and interest relevant to the event at hand.

On April 5, 2025, team Equilibrium from Webster University in Tashkent proudly represented the university at the Case Competition with BCG, held in Almaty and co-organized by the KIMEP Case Club and global consultancy firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
A case competition is an academic event where student teams are challenged to solve real-world business problems within a limited time and present their strategic recommendations to a panel of industry experts. These competitions are widely recognized in global business education and serve as a platform for students to demonstrate analytical thinking, teamwork and presentation skills in a simulated corporate environment.
The team — comprised of students Akmal Abduazizov, Abduazim Rasulov, Nuriddin Xusniddinov and Kamila Gafforova — competed against top student teams from across Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan. This highly selective challenge tasked participants with solving real-world business problems under the mentorship of BCG professionals.
The competition featured two rounds:
- Online Qualification Round (Feb. 28–March 9): Open to all registered teams, with only the top performers advancing.
- Final Round (April 5, in person): Finalists presented their strategic solutions to a panel of BCG consultants.
Among fierce competition, team Equilibrium proudly secured third place, earning recognition for a creative and data-driven business approach.
Just weeks later, Equilibrium took part in another elite challenge — the CAU University Case Competition, held as part of the Harvard Business Summit. This international event brought together over 100 student teams from five countries, culminating in a high-stakes final with only five top contenders and a prize pool of $20,000.
Demonstrating their continuous growth and sharp analytical skills, the Webster University Tashkent team claimed an impressive second place, earning a cash award of 65,000,000 UZS (about $5,030 U.S.). The team's success further cements Webster's position as a hub for future business leaders and strategic thinkers.
Participation in such competitions offers students an invaluable opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to complex business challenges, interact with global professionals and sharpen their presentation and teamwork skills. Webster University in Tashkent is proud of team Equilibrium and remains committed to supporting students in reaching new heights of academic and professional excellence.
