Webster University in Tashkent Celebrates Record-Breaking Commencement
May 30, 2025
May 27-28, 2025, Webster University Tashkent proudly hosted the largest commencement ceremony in its history, awarding degrees to an impressive 1,493 graduates. This milestone event not only reflected the university’s rapid growth but also celebrated the resilience, dedication and achievements of a truly diverse student body.
The celebration unfolded at the Main Hall of Alisher Navoi Cinema (Panorama), a venue that welcomed hundreds of graduates, their families, faculty and honored guests. Due to the record-breaking number of attendees, the event was split into two ceremonies: the Bachelor's Degree Ceremony on May 27 and the Master’s Degree Ceremony on May 28.
The graduating class included 541 undergraduate and 952 graduate students, representing 17 countries — a testament to Webster Tashkent’s growing international reputation.
Dr. Anthony Jarvis, Rector, Webster University Tashkent
The ceremony was opened by Dr. Anthony Jarvis, rector of Webster University in Tashkent, who delivered a heartfelt keynote address focused on adaptability, innovation and ethical leadership.
“This commencement honored the dedication, growth and resilience of our students,” Jarvis said. “These graduates are stepping into a world of challenges and opportunities. They are prepared to make meaningful contributions in Uzbekistan and far beyond.”
Several other distinguished speakers took the stage, offering congratulations and encouraging students to apply their skills toward building a more collaborative and innovative future.
The event also honored those who stood behind the graduates throughout their academic journey — faculty, staff and families — recognizing their crucial role in student success and transformation.
Graduate Sevinch Tulyaganova (BA in Economics) shared her reflections:
“Webster University empowered me to think critically, embrace diversity and step outside my comfort zone. The supportive environment and international community helped shape both my academic and personal growth," she said. "I am proud to graduate with a global perspective and the confidence to pursue new opportunities.”
In addition to Tulyaganova’s reflection, many graduates shared personal stories of growth and transformation — each representing the diverse strengths and experiences that define the Webster community.
The event was not just a formal occasion — it was a celebration of identity, achievement and community. Graduates processed in their gowns, families cheered and many moments were captured in photos and video.
As these 1,493 graduates step into the next chapter of their lives, they do so as part of a thriving global alumni network of over 200,000 Webster graduates. With a solid foundation in American-style education, critical thinking and leadership, they are ready to shape their industries, communities and futures.
This ceremony was more than a celebration — it was a declaration: Webster University Tashkent is shaping tomorrow’s leaders right here in Uzbekistan.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025 — your journey is just beginning.
