President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev meeting with young people during an open dialogue at the Kok-Saroy Residence in 2026.

In 2026, during an open dialogue with young people at the Kuksaroy residence, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again reaffirmed that youth policy and education remain central to Uzbekistan’s long-term development strategy.

With more than 22 million young people in the country and up to 1 million expected to enter the labor market annually by 2030, education is no longer just a social priority, it is an economic imperative. The government’s expansion of youth entrepreneurship financing, investment in startups, support for foreign language learning and modernization of vocational and higher education systems clearly signal a shift toward a knowledge-based economy.

As Uzbekistan’s market grows and diversifies, demand for globally competitive professionals continues to rise. Business management, international relations, media and strategic communication and computer science are no longer optional fields, they are strategic sectors shaping the country’s integration into the global economy.

At Webster University Tashkent, students pursue internationally accredited degree programs designed to meet these evolving demands. Through programs in Business Administration, International Relations, Media Communications, Strategic Communication and Computer Science, the University prepares graduates not only for local opportunities, but also for international career pathways.

Rector of Webster University Tashkent Jean Paul van Marissing, PhD, emphasizes the transformative role of education in this national momentum:

“Uzbekistan is experiencing a powerful demographic and economic shift. The attention being given to youth development at the state level reflects a clear understanding that the future competitiveness of the country depends on education. Our responsibility as an international institution is to equip students with more than academic knowledge. We focus on critical thinking, ethical leadership, innovation and a global perspective.

"Today’s students will become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs, diplomats, technology leaders and communication strategists. They must be prepared to operate confidently in both local and international environments. That is why we integrate global standards, practical experience and cross-cultural learning into every program.

"When education aligns with national priorities and global trends, it becomes a catalyst for sustainable growth. We are proud to contribute to Uzbekistan’s progress by preparing professionals who are ready to shape the future, not just adapt to it.”

In support of the national agenda outlined during the presidential dialogue, Executive Director of the Center for Educational Implementation of Webster University Tashkent, Rasul Rahmonov, emphasized:

“The President’s open dialogue clearly defined strategic priorities for empowering youth and expanding opportunities for their initiatives. The recognition of achievements in science, innovation, entrepreneurship and civic engagement reflects deep trust in the younger generation.

"Today, Uzbek youth actively participate in international education programs, research and innovative projects. Creating an academic environment that meets global standards, supported by modern technologies and research opportunities, is essential for developing competitive professionals.

"Equally important is strengthening digital skills, entrepreneurial thinking, reading culture and international academic exchange. At the same time, protecting young minds in the global information space and nurturing them in the spirit of national values and universal principles remains vital.

"Education must prepare young people not only for employment, but for leadership, responsibility and independent life. Supporting their potential is a shared mission, and universities play a central role in that effort.”

As the country strengthens its youth-focused policies and expands opportunities for professional development, quality higher education remains the foundation of long-term economic resilience.

Uzbekistan’s growth story is increasingly driven by talent, innovation and global engagement and education stands at the center of that transformation.
